Angelia has worked in the disease prevention/health promotion field for six years as a health educator. In her current role at the New Hanover County Health Department she serves the community by working with groups to design and implement programs that engage people, as well as improve health and quality of life. Angelia also helps organizations measure the impact of their programs based on the organization’s goals and the audiences’ needs. Angelia is a Certified Health Education Specialist. She worked with the college student population at Mississippi State University for several years before leaving Mississippi for her new home away from home in North Carolina.

Amy Cook has spent the past 20 years promoting health and wellness through education, effective behavior change programming and advocating policy and environmental changes. She has enjoyed working within the community through customized health and wellness programming, guiding groups to strategically plan and achieve their desired health goals and assessing community health policies and environmental conditions that could be improved to better support healthy living. In her current role as New Hanover County Human Resources Analyst/Wellness, she oversees the New Hanover County Employee Wellness program designed to encourage employee health and well-being. Amy has a master’s degree in public health from University of South Carolina in addition to completing Management Academy for Public Health from the University of North Carolina Public Health. She is passionate about helping others achieve their best health and is looking forward to the Fit Family Challenge! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and talking walks on the beach!
