Located in Castle Hayne, Camp Adventures at Riptide Stables Riptide Rascals is named after one of our adorable miniature donkeys who is always a favorite with the kids. Riptide Stables is happy to open our gates to summer fun with our weekly day camp. Our camp is open to kids aged 5-15. Any age is welcome any day! We break into smaller groups for some activities and everyone joins together for others. There are no more than 6 kids with one of our great counselors at any time.
Each week is filled with learning about and participating in life on a farm, interacting with the 7 miniature donkeys, 4 horses and 2 ponies, learning all about the animals and how to care for them, grooming, feeding, bathing the animals (and of course having fun with water at the same time), creating new friendships, with furry critters and other kids, crafts, pony rides and enjoying the outdoors.
We typically start each day with feeding the animals and deciding who needs attention, grooming or maybe to be decorated with our fun colorful paint soap and then rinsed off for a fun way to give a critter a bath. Everyone gets groomed.
Depending on the weather we may saddle up Nemo, Dory or Misty to teach our group how to “tack up” and then go for hand-led rides, go on a nature walk on our farm’s 17 acres with nature trails or decide on a craft to do inside or outside. We will settle for lunch (kids bring their own packed lunches) and enjoy them on the deck overlooking the pond or in the pavilion. We have a refrigerator for lunches, ice and water always on hand. After lunch a few barn chores and more time with the animals.
Be prepared to pick up tired, wet, dirty farm hands with great stories and memories! Packing a towel and change of clothes may be a good idea!
We offer:
- 2-day camp on Tuesday & Thursday (of the same week) $150
- 3-day camp on Monday, Wednesday & Friday (of the same week) $200
- 5-day Monday – Friday $325
Camp is from 9:00am to 2:00pm each day
Early drop off and late pick up are available for additional charge.
$25 registration fee per child. (one time fee no matter how many weeks booked)
50% due upon booking and remainder due 21 days prior to beginning camp date. If you are booking multiple weeks of multiple siblings the same week please reach out for discounts. If you don't see a week you would like, please reach out. If you have 3 or more kids that are all interested in the same week, we can likely arrange it for you.
