The Holders, the first book in Strange Chemistry/Random House’s much anticipated young adult fantasy series by Julianna Scott has received high praise. The book will take young readers on a journey they will thoroughly enjoy.
Here’s what readers can expect:
Set among the rolling green hills of Ireland, The Holders is about 17-year-old Becca, who has spent her whole life protecting her brother after their father leaves and from people who say the voices in his head are unnatural. When two strangers appear with apparent answers to Ryland's problem and details about a school in Ireland where Ryland will not only fit in, but also prosper, Becca is leary.
However, she reluctantly agrees to join Ryland on his journey. What they find at St. Brigid's is a world beyond their imagination. Little by little they find out information about their family's heritage and the legend of the Holder race that decrees Ryland is the one they've been waiting for. They are all in for a surprise that will change what they thought they knew about themselves and their kind.
