Little Passports
Little Passports, a subscription service focused on geography and cultures, provides children the opportunity to explore the world without leaving the comfort of their home.
As an educator I was quite excited to learn about Little Passports. With more rigid curriculum guidelines in schools that focus on language arts, math and science, studies of geography, cultures and history are often omitted due to lack of time in the school day. Social studies helps promote global awareness and cultural acceptance and Little Passports delivers these through its subscription service.
Getting packed and ready for a trip is the start to any great voyage and Little Passport’s subscribers begin their journey with a sturdy cardboard suitcase containing a large map to track locations, a passport to attach stickers of places “traveled”, activity sheets and a boarding pass with a code for access to online learning. Children are also introduced to Sam and Sofia, the two characters that ride a magic scooter to different locations in the world and share their adventures.
In the months that follow, subscribers receive a package from Sam and Sofia that includes a letter, souvenirs, stickers, photos, and access to new games and activities related to the focus country. Little Passports World Edition has 24 different adventures for children to embark on. Subscriptions can be purchased monthly and cost $11.95 a month or multiple-month plans can be purchased. 3 months plans can be purchased for $41.85, 6 months costs $83.70 and 12 months costs $131.40.
Little Passports also offers a USA edition which takes Sam and Sofia on adventures in 2 different states every month. This edition is geared towards children ages 7-12, while the World Edition is more suitable for children ages 5-10.
