kids lunch
Packing your child's lunch can be a daily challenge, especially for those children that refuse to eat sandwiches. However, it is possible to pack healthy lunches everyday that include selections from each of the five food groups. Here is a sample menu for a week of healthy school lunches.
- Monday: whole wheat crackers with almond or peanut butter, yogurt cup or tube, sugar snap peas and a pear
- Tuesday: homemade zucchini bread (has grains and veggies), string cheese, edamame and a peach
- Wednesday: whole grain wrap stuffed with lean deli meat, cheese, lettuce and sprouts with a side of berries
- Thursday: pasta salad (including chopped celery and carrots), cheese cubes, mixed nuts and an apple
- Friday: English muffin mini pizza (pack English muffin, tomato sauce, cheese and ham or pepperoni separately and kids can assemble their pizza at school ) and fruit salad
There are so many options for kids lunches and if you are creative and listen to your child's input, you can provide healthy and appealing lunches for your children daily.
