Going to a movie is a great way to spend time together as a family. Here are the family movies currently playing at theaters and what is being released in March.
Currently Playing:
- Big Miracle –Rated PG- This movie is based on a true story about people coming together to save a family of gray whales trapped by rapidly forming ice in the Arctic Circle.
- Journey 2: The Mysterious Island- Rated PG- This movie is the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth which was released in 2008. This 3-D film brings to life strange creatures, mountains of gold and deadly volcanoes as the characters try to rescue the lone inhabitant of the mysterious island.
- Star Wars: Episode 1 Phantom Menace- Rated PG- Originally released in 1999, this movie returns to theaters in 3-D. In this first episode of the Star Wars saga the Jedi Knights are called into action against a dark lord that threatens the peace of planet Naboo.
- The Secret World of Arrietty- Rated G- In this animated adventure based on the children’s book series The Borrowers, a tiny girl who lives with her parents in the floorboards of a suburban home befriends a normal-sized human boy. Their friendship must remain secret in order to keep the girl and her family safe.
Coming to Theaters in March:
- Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax- Rated PG- Releasing March 2, this rendition of the Dr. Seuss classic follows the story of a 12 year old boy who discovers the story of the Lorax while trying to win the heart of the girl of his dreams. The Lorax shares his fight to save his beloved world in this tale.
- Mirror Mirror-Rating TBD- March 16 is the date set to release this retelling of the classic fairy tale Snow White. When an evil queen takes control of a kingdom, the rightful heiress (an exiled princess) enlists the help of seven rebels to help her win her kingdom back.
