Dad-Family
As we count down the days until Father's Day this year, the pressure is on to find the perfect gift for Daddy. Children love being involved in the process of creating, selecting, and presenting something special to honor the most important men in their lives, but deciding what gift to choose can be challenging for everyone. Considering that the greatest gifts are oftentimes the ones that evoke fond memories filled with love and smiles later in life, here are 5 unique ideas to help your family celebrate Dad this year.
Sing him a special Father's Day song. Have the kids learn a simple tune that honors Dad (these can easily be found by searching the web) and then sing it to him on Father's Day morning. Better yet, grab your phone and record them singing the song the day before, and then text it to Dad on Father's Day to surprise him with a video that he can watch again and again and save forever.
Give him a favorite children’s book from his own childhood. If you do a little research beforehand, you can help your child find the book that Daddy loved when he was little. Chances are, he will love it even more now that he gets to experience sharing it with his own kids.
Dad-Shirt
Design him a one-of-a-kind tee shirt. There are several affordable websites out there that offer customizable shirts with any saying of your choice, and the turnaround time is often very quick. Last Father’s Day we used www.vistaprint.com, and my husband got a kick out of our clever creation! (See photo.)
Give him a “set” of gifts that he can enjoy with his sidekick. Even if your children are too young to actively participate yet, getting Dad ready to share a favorite pastime with them in the near future is a great idea. Whether it be a ball and two baseball gloves (a big one and a little one) to practice playing catch, two fishing poles, a pair of golf clubs, or a few real and toy tools, you can be sure that Dad will have fun teaching his little one everything he knows and loves about his hobby.
Take a photo of your child imitating his or her favorite things about Daddy. Nothing could be cuter than a little one dressed in Daddy’s clothes and posing just the way that Daddy would. With one silly photo, you can give him something that will bring a smile to his face every time he looks at it and sees his little “mini-me” standing in his shoes.
