fudge
Making sweet treats is a holiday tradition in many households. One treat that holds a special place in my heart (and tummy) is my Mom's fudge. Once every winter, the kitchen was filled with the sweet smell of melting chocolate and marshmallow creme coming together to create the best fudge I had ever tasted.
As I got older, my Mom shared with me that her recipe wasn't a secret family recipe. It was one she found on a jar of Kraft Marshmallow Creme called "Fantasy Fudge". It is a simple recipe that makes a generous portion of fudge so you have enough for your family and some to share with others.
Here is the original recipe for Fantasy Fudge (from the Kraft Marshmallow Creme jar)
Ingredients
- 3 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup margarine
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk
- 1 12-oz. (340 g) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 7-oz. (198 g) jar Kraft Marshmallow creme
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- Combine sugar, margarine and milk in heavy 2-1/2 quart saucepan; bring to full rolling bail, stirring constantly.
- Continue boiling 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring.
- Remove from heat, stir in chocolate till melted. Add marshmallow creme, nuts & vanilla beat till blended.
- Pour into greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
- Cool at room temperature and cut into 1" squares.
