Sally couldn't decide which color of chalk to pick. She began reaching for the yellow, but changed her mind finally selecting the pink one. "Yes, this is the one I want." After she carefully chose her color she walked over to a spot in the courtyard and began drawing on the cement paving square, carefully planning her masterpiece. That masterpiece is what has become the kid's collaboration area in the Cameron Art Museum courtyard. Kids coming to the CAM Café get the chance to choose their chalk and create for themselves on the paving squares in the CAM courtyard. Imagine, a chance for your child to express their creativity and leave their mark at their art museum!
In addition, parents can breathe easy knowing their children not only have a chance to express themselves at the museum they also will be served delicious and nutritious food from CAM Café's executive chef Jessica Cabo's kitchen. "It is very important to us to take children's food and nutrition as seriously as we do for the grownups. We work to provide food children will enjoy, but also will be good for them." Cabo says. The menu has many of the kid's favorites but they are made with fresh ingredients. "We don't use frozen, pre-fabricated foods for the kids menu. The Chicken Tenders and the Fish Sticks are hand cut, breaded and freshly fried. The hamburgers and made on premises and cooked to order. And our grilled cheese sandwich features 100% real cheese." said Cabo. Kids have another chance to be creative at lunch by selecting the "Create a Sandwich" option on the menu. Fillings include peanut butter, Nutella, honey, jam, banana and sliced apples on your choice of bread. Kid's meals include a drink and choice of house-cut fries, sweet potato tots or fresh fruit all for $8.
CAM Café located in the Cameron Art Museum at 3201 South 17th Street in Wilmington. The Café is open from Tues. through Sun. from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and open for dinner on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Best to call for dinner reservations to make sure you get a table.
