Local movie theaters offer a special selection of family films during the summer which provides cool entertainment at a great price.
Carmike Cinema's 2012 Summer Kids Series begins on Thursday, June 7. Kids movies will run every Thursday at 10 AM for 10 weeks. The cost for admission, drink and popcorn is $2 per person. The following is the schedule of films for this summer:
- June 7 - Puss in Boots
- June 14 - Chicken Run
- June 21 - Over the Hedge
- June 28 - Kung Fu Panda
- July 5 - Shark Tale
- July 12 - How To Train Your Dragon
- July 19 - Madagascar 2
- July 26 - Bee Movie
- August 2 - Monsters vs. Aliens
- August 9 - Megamind
Regal Cinema's Summer Movie Express begins on Tuesday, June 12. Kids movies will run every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 AM for 9 weeks. There are 2 movies available each week. Admission for each person is $1. The following is the schedule of films for this summer:
- June 12 and 13 - Journey 2 and Kit Kittredge: American Girl
- June 19 and 20 - Dolphin Tale and Happy Feet Two
- June 26 and 27- Legend of the Guardians and Yogi Bear
- July 3 and 4 - Cats and Dogs: Revenge and Hugo
- July 10 and 11 - Adventures of Tin Tin and Puss in Boots
- July 17 and 18 - Kung Fu Panda 2 and Rango
- July 24 and 25 - Rio and Spy Kids: All the Time
- July 31 and August 1 - Chimpanzee and Hoodwinked Too
- August 7 and 8 - Arthur Christmas and Smurfs
