Families and kids of all ages can try their hand at some of the traditional fun and skills from the regions past at Historic Edenton, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on Saturday July 14. Visitors can try rope making, making and playing marbles, designing paper quilt squares or making a cornhusk doll.
There's also the chance to shop local, as some of the regions crafters display and sell unique hand made products. Among enticements will be recycled glass bird baths, pen and ink drawings, textiles and pearl and other jewelry. Many other demonstrations and exhibitors are expected. One-of-a-kind items will be available.
The N.C. Department of Cultural Resources organized the 2nd Saturday Programs of free family fun at museums and historic sites statewide on June 8, July 13 and Aug. 10. Authentic North Carolina experiences are available within a short drive of all the state's citizens. For additional information on these free events, visit http://www.ncdcr.gov/2ndSaturdays
