NC Aquarium Fort Fisher
NCAFF 5K Race
Erik Hoffacker runs the 5K Race for the Planet with his daughter, Dylan, in 2012.
Join seasoned runners, first-time racers and families for the 5th annual 5K Race for the Planet on Sunday, April 21 at the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Lace up for the festive fun and celebrate Earth Day one day early.
A scenic course, organic t-shirts for the first 300 runners and free Aquarium admission on race day for registered participants adds pep to the step, whether walking or running. Overall and age group winners receive eco-friendly awards.
The Aquarium’s goal for the race is to plant the seed for eco-conscious living and raise funds for the Aquarium's educational programs and green initiatives. Count on the Aquarium to walk the talk by reducing race waste as much as possible.
The 5K Race for the Planet starts and ends at the Aquarium. The flat, mostly asphalt course runs through scenic Fort Fisher with impressive views of the ocean, maritime forest and historic Fort Fisher Civil War site. The course is USATF certified.
The race begins at 8 a.m. To register online visit www.ncaquariums.com/fort- fisher or call 910.458.7468. Walk-up registration begins at 7 a.m. on race day. Early registration is $25; $30 after April 12.
