Bring the kids for an afternoon of fun and great music by the Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra and Junior Strings, on Sunday, April 27th at 4 p.m. in Kenan Auditorium. Admission is FREE.
The annual Free Family Concert is sponsored by Southeastern Nephrology Associates in memory of Dr. Gary Hyman, and features the Junior Division Winner of the 37th Annual Richard R. Deas Student Concerto Competition, Caitlin Newton Patterson on violin. Caitlin Newton Patterson is a sixth grade student at St. Mary Catholic School in Wilmington. She began violin five years ago with Ms. Lorraine Westermark at Suzuki Talent Education of Wilmington and plays with the Wilmington Symphony Junior Strings ensemble.
Also included is the Cape Fear Dance Theatre in “A Golden Afternoon”, a dance on film excerpt from In Wonderland, with live dancers and a multimedia presentation, accompanied by the Youth Orchestra. In Wonderland is a physical theater show based on the literary work "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll.
The Wilmington Symphony is pleased to partner with Moe’s Southwest Grill on Sunday, April 27th for the makings of a great family outing! Families can eat at Moe’s either before or after the concert, and 20% of the bill will be donated to the Wilmington Symphony youth education programs.
