Embassy Suites Hotels
Splash park
When people think of Myrtle Beach they often think of the entertainment there including miniature golf, fabulous shows, water parks and amusement parks (not to mention the shopping and dining options). All of these features are great if you are looking for an action packed vacation and have some money to spend. However, a friend of mine and I decided that we wanted to take our daughters (ages 3,4 and 5) on a weekend trip to enjoy the beach and hotel amenities. We didn't want to spend a ton of money and only wanted to leave the hotel in the evening for meals.
After looking into many Myrtle Beach hotels we finally chose to stay at the Embassy Suites in Kingston Plantation. The hotel is right on the ocean and has several pools and water features that we decided would be perfect for the girls.
We arrived at the Embassy Suites at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon and checked in quickly. The 19 story hotel was very impressive to our young girls and they enjoyed the elevator ride up to our room on the 18th floor. From the large windows, the girls spotted the large water playground located beside the hotel and were very excited to get their bathing suits on.
When we got to the room, we were pleased with our 2 room suite. The living area included a pull out sofa that was the perfect place for the girls to sleep, a kitchenette and a flat screen television. The bedroom had 2 double beds and a flat screen television making it the perfect "mom's retreat".
Once we were all changed into our swimming attire, we headed out to check out the pools and water features. On our way out to the pools, we noticed an arcade that would be fun for older children. Outside we explored the hotel grounds which included 2 large pools, 2 whirlpools, a kiddie pool, a lazy river and an interactive water playground which the girls called the "water park". Unfortunately, the "water park" closed at 5PM so we spent time in the whirlpool and heated pool.
After playing for about an hour and a half in the water we all got changed and headed down to the manager's reception which happens daily from 5:30-7:30PM and includes free alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. The girls enjoyed the pretzels, popcorn and fruit while the moms enjoyed a refreshing adult beverage. Afterward we ventured out to a nearby restaurant for dinner.
The next morning, after a restful night's sleep, we all headed down to enjoy the complimentary breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the breakfast was more than a simple continental breakfast. There was a breakfast bar full of hot choices such as eggs, breakfast meats, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and hot cereals. Cold breakfast cereals, muffins and breads along with made to order omelets were available as well.
Once everyone had fueled up for the day we headed out for some outdoor fun. A quick stop by the towel cabana to pick up some complimentary towels and then we were on our way to the water playground. The girls enjoyed the large water play area and I loved that there were 3 life guards on duty to help keep an eye on the kids.
We spent the whole day enjoying the pools, lazy river, water playground and the beach. The kids had an exciting day and the moms got to relax a little. It was nice to have all the amenities we needed on site. We didn't even leave the hotel for lunch because we kept snacks in the mini fridge in our room.
In the evening we went to another nearby restaurant for dinner and a local ice cream shop for dessert. The location of the hotel is very near Tanger Outlets, a Wal-Mart Shopping Center, Colonial Mall and many restaurants so we didn't have to go far to find dining.
Our final morning at the Embassy Suites included a delicious breakfast and a walk on the beach before leaving at checkout which is at 11 AM.
I would highly recommend the Embassy Suites at Kingston Plantation for families looking for great amenities on site. This oceanfront hotel provides a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy.
