Raddish2
As a mom, one of my favorite things to do is prepare food with my daughter. She is currently 6 years old but has been helping in the kitchen since she was about 2.For children like mine that love to be in the kitchen or those that may be a bit reluctant to join in the food preparation, Raddish offers culinary fun for everyone.
Raddish is a monthly subscription box that delivers culinary adventures to families. The company's founder, Samantha Barnes, wants families to share in the simple pleasures that cooking can foster. She says, "two of the greatest gifts I can give my children are a love and appreciation of good food and a childhood enjoyed at the family table". This theme is apparent when you open a Raddish box and examine its contents.
When a subscription is ordered (or gifted), the Raddish box is delivered with 3 recipe guides, 2 creative activities, a list of required groceries, a skill card, an iron-on patch and table talk cards to spark fun dinner conversation. The recipes guides not only contain detailed instruction for preparing healthy meals. They also fun facts, kitchen tips and culinary vocabulary. They are thick and laminated so that they can be stored and used again and again.
As a teacher, I appreciate the curricular connections included in the Raddish box. In addition to the obvious health and nutrition skills that can be learned in the kitchen, there are many other academic connections that can be made through cooking such as math, science and social studies. Raddish box incorporates many of these into the contents of each box.
Raddish box is designed for children between the ages of 2 and 12 that have an interest in food. The boxes could also be used by educators that enjoy teaching through cooking.
Subscription prices range from $20-$24 a month depending on which subscription is chosen. More information can be found about Raddish and their subscriptions on their website.
