Summer is a wonderful time of the year to get an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. Shopping local Farmers Markets gives you access to the season’s best crops while allowing you to support community farmers. The following is a list of Farmers Markets in our area:
Riverfront Farmers’ Market: Located on the Cape Fear River in downtown Wilmington, this market is open every Saturday from 8AM to 1PM until December 17. Items available include local produce, plants, flowers, meat, cheese, wine, baked goods, pickled items, eggs, crafts and more. Local musicians are also part of the experience at this venue.
Poplar Grove Farmers’ Market: Located on Hwy 17 N at Poplar Grove Plantation, this market is open every Wednesday from 8AM to 1PM until December 14. Items available include eggs, herbs, cut flowers, meat, bakery breads and sweet confections; arts and crafts including jewelry, photography, woven, knitted and quilted items, outdoor furniture, birdhouses, pottery; as well as native plants. On the second Wednesday of every month through October, Master Gardeners will be on hand for plant clinics.
Wrightsville Beach Farmers’ Market: Located on Old Causeway Drive in Wrightsville Beach, this market is open every Monday from 8AM to 1PM until September 5. This market features fresh, locally grown produce.
Carolina Beach Farmers’ Market: Located at Carolina Beach Lake Park, this market is open every Saturday from 8am until 2PM until September 3. This market features fresh produce and other local goodies.
Town of Leland Farmers’ Market: Located at Leland Town Hall, this market is open every other Sunday from 11AM to 3PM through the month of August. This market is focused on local food and agricultural products.
