White Lake Water Park
White Lake water park
A friend of mine let me know about a water park near White Lake and I decided to take my family to check it out.
White Lake Water Park is located about an hour outside of Wilmington and is open 7 days a week from 10 am-6 pm. My family and I decided to visit on a Thursday to avoid weekend crowds. We arrived at the park at 10:30 and were pleasantly surprised that there were very few people there. This allowed us to explore all areas of the park without having to fight through any crowds.
The park includes a large water playground area with small slides, dumping water buckets, a submarine and much more. It also has a large lazy river, a pool, bumper boats and a 50 foot tall, 210 foot long Double Turbo Twister Slide. The bumper boats and turbo slide are for guests 48 inches and taller.
My four year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed the water playground. Even when more guests arrived at around 11:00, there was still plenty of room to play and she never felt overwhelmed because they were too many people. There was also a young man in a wheel chair that was able to enjoy the water playground. It was accessible to all due to a sloped entry.
Other amenities at the water park included 2 concession areas, a store, restrooms, lounge chairs and several Tiki Huts. The Tiki Huts are available for rental and come in three different sizes. They each include picnic tables and a grill. These are great for family get-togethers or other large groups.
Admission to the park is quite affordable. Guests over 4 feet tall pay $14.50 for the day while those under 4 feet tall pay $8.50 for the day. Admission is half price if you arrive after 3 pm making it a great afternoon activity.
I would certainly recommend this to anyone with younger children that don't require the excitement of a lot of big water slides and simply enjoy playing in the water. One word of caution, however. Check lounge chairs carefully before you sit down. Many chairs are cracked or have broken parts on them.
