Begin your journey to higher education by participating in one of UNCW’s outstanding programs for youth of all ages. We offer summer academic enrichment opportunities, school year standards-based programs, and community outreach events that engage youth in experiential education, service learning and leadership development.
We offer a wide variety of programs that provide opportunities for children and teens to apply what they know, discover new areas of interests, practice new skills, explore careers and aspire to higher education. Our programs are also designed to encourage teamwork and leadership. We welcome all young people who are motivated to learn.
Have you ever wanted the chance to operate a real underwater remotely operated vehicle... Are you interested in working with professional research scientists exploring the fields of Marine Biology, Marine Geology, Ocean Chemistry, Physical Oceanography and Marine Biotechnology... Would you be interested in cruising the ocean on a university operated research vessel... If so, then MarineQuest Summer Camps are for YOU! http://www.uncw.edu/ marinequest/
Engineering Expectations is designed to hook kids on engineering by engaging them in creative thinking and out-of-the-box problem solving. Our programs are project driven and highlight the engineering design process. We offer summer camps that explore different engineering disciplines, including aerospace, chemical, civil, and mechanical. If you aren't sure which discipline is for you, then try Engineering Explorations. We also offer novel programs such as biomimicry that feature nature as an engineer. We even provide young people with an opportunity to engineer history by recreating some of the amazing designs of man’s past. If the future is more to your liking, we also offer robotics. And we have an engineering leadership academy for girls. Once summer is over you can continue engineering with us on Saturdays. http://uncw.edu/youth/ programs/engineeringrobotics. html/
Give your child the joy of reading with our dramatic play program, Literacy Live. Children (ages 4-7) develop reading comprehension skills while acting out stories using simple costumes, sets and props. The stories are selected from critically reviewed literature featuring specific themes. Children are encouraged to use their imaginations, personal experiences and creativity to recreate the stories and demonstrate comprehension. The themes are also integrated into other fun activities such as science, math, art and music. We offer Saturday programs and summer camps.
