Cape Fear Isshin-Ryu was formed in 2001 and through the power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we have continued to grow, starting an afterschool program in 2008.
Cape Fear Isshin-Ryu Afterschool Program provides a rich and secure learning environment that will help your child make the most of their afterschool hours. Our program combines supervised homework and study time with a organized games and a well balanced curriculum in the martial arts.
What do we teach? Isshinryu Karate is an Okinawan system of self defense created by Grand Master Tatsuo Shimabuku. Our style focuses on a balance of hand and foot techniques with a heavy emphasis on self defense.
Our goal is to give individual attention to every child's needs and we work hard to see that your child progresses in their martial arts training. Students will earn rank based on their dedication and ability to perform what they have learned. When a student earns a new rank, there is a very real sense of accomplishment and pride in what they have done.
As with almost all martial arts schools, we emphasize self control and an increase on social skills. We achieve this through karate training as well as the interaction of organized games.
To provide a safe environment that motivates your child to reach his/her full potential through their training in the martial arts. Through our instruction we provide character building activities, opportunities to improve social skills, leadership training and a balanced exercise program.
Cape Fear Isshin-Ryu offers a summer karate camp. Our program offers karate for over an hour each day and participation in active play such as dodge ball, nerf games, frisbee tag, obstacle courses, team building excercises, sword fighting, and more. In addition we will take field trips and have special activities and mini camps. Our field trips will include, but are not limited to the movies, sword fighting at the park, swimming, and more!
