Junior League of Wilmington to Hold Its 65th Annual Bargain Sale
Support the League and the community while shopping at bargain prices
Wilmington, NC – On October 12 and 13, 2018, the Junior League of Wilmington, NC (JLW) will host its 65th annual Bargain Sale and Sip & Shop event. This is the JLW's longest-running fundraiser in which the community is invited to shop a mega yard sale offering new and used items--including housewares, furniture, clothing, books, toys, sports gear, and more--at bargain prices. Proceeds from Bargain Sale go toward furthering the JLW's mission of empowering women to enrich and improve our community through their leadership as trained volunteers.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Florence and the devastation it wreaked on the greater Wilmington community, the JLW will be adopting a number of local families who have lost their homes and possessions in the storm to help them rebuild their lives. These families will be offered a voucher and invited to shop the Bargain Sale inventory for free through a private event on October 12 before the sale opens up to the public. The adopted families will have the first pick of the entire inventory, so they can rummage through everything and select the clothes, housewares, furniture, etc. needed to replace what was lost.
While we hope this opportunity to replenish from the Bargain Sale inventory will substantially impact our adopted families, we also appreciate that the loss extends far beyond the goods available at Bargain Sale. For this reason, we are asking for additional donations to help make our families as "whole" as possible. Many have reached out to the JLW asking how they can assist in this time of need and as such we have set up this GoFundMe page to further support our adopted families.
ALL proceeds from this GoFundMe will be distributed evenly among the adopted families and used to purchase additional supplemental goods which may include towels and linens, cleaning supplies, toiletries and hygiene products, and gift certificates to Walmart/Target, grocery stores, and home improvement stores to help the families rebuild their lives.
In order to ensure that all proceeds can be distributed to the families at the event on October 12, we will be closing this page on October 9, 2018. *Please consult with your tax professional regarding the tax implications of any contributions
