Move With Me

The National Association for Sport and Physical Education suggests that “preschoolers should accumulate at least 60 minutes of structured physical activity each day” in addition to the 60 plus minutes a day of unstructured play.  Yoga designed for children is a wonderful option for structured physical activity.  Although research on yoga in children is limited, The Mayo Clinic states “At the least, yoga can be a gentle method for your child to get more physical activity and enhance his or her well-being.”

Move With Me! Offers interactive yoga story DVDs that are easy to follow and entertaining for young children.  The DVDs offer a unique blend of developmentally appropriate yoga moves and creative movement with songs and stories.  The recommended ages for the programs are 3-7.  My 3 year old was able to follow along with the DVD program and was interested throughout the entire 20 minute lesson.  Each DVD includes a warm up, adventure skills, yoga story and a relaxation portion.

The Move With Me! Company offers individual DVDs for $24.95.  They also offer 3 different DVD box sets which include 3 DVDs in a series called Scooter and Me.  The DVDs in this series are about a boy and his adventures with his scooter and include skills and tips children can use to stay healthy inside and out.  Each set of 3 DVDs cost $49.95 and the set of all 9 is available for $119.95.

These DVDs are great for parents to use with their children at home and would also be a wonderful addition to any pre-school program.  For more information on these products please visit www.move-with-me.com

What a great opportunity for parents and their children. We should all take at least 30 minutes out of our days to relax! Pura Vida!
